Avec l'ouverture dans les mois à venir, d'un Beth Habad à Sioux Falls dans l'état du South Dakota (plan), chacun des cinquante états aura au moins un Beth Habad.

 

Le Rav Mendel Alperowitz et son épouse se sont rendus à Sioux Falls plusieurs fois ces derniers mois. En mars dernier, ils ont organisé un événement à Pourim. "Quarante-cinq personnes y ont assisté ! Elles étaient ravies de rencontrer d'autres juifs et de célébrer ensemble la fête de Pourim. Elles voulaient même savoir quand le Beth Habad serait enfin ouvert ici", a déclaré Rav Mendel Alperowitz qui est originaire de Bournemouth en Angleterre.

 

Selon certaines estimations, leur participation à Pourim représentait 10% de la population juive totale de l'État. Il y a probablement plus de juifs, dit Rav Mendel Alperowitz mais sans la fréquentation d'une synagogue ni aucun rabbin pendant ces trente dernières années, il n'y a pas de vie communautaire juive.

 

"Au cours de nos visites, les gens nous ont dit qu'ils ne connaissaient pas d'autres juifs vivant à Sioux Falls, et je suppose qu'il y a plus de mille juifs dans tout l'État", a déclaré Rav Mendel Alperowitz. Les nouveaux Chlouhim vont s'installer à Sioux Falls, là où se trouve la plus grande concentration juive, mais Rav Alperowitz compte bien voyager pour aller vers les juifs qui sont éparpillés et changer les choses.
